Every where we go this week, we hear people saying three little words… “It’s coming home”.

… so we thought we would take this opportunity to share the heart-warming tale (pun intended) of a lost puppy who found his way back after many years in the wilderness.

The Beautiful silver Okimono of a Japanese Chin Dog was a much-loved piece from the private collection of legendary Camden Passage dealer Jack Webb. Specifically and vehemently “Not for Sale”, the pup was in Webb’s collection for the best part of Fifty years.

Jack Webb, (real name John Vernon Webb) was a D-Day Veteran who set up his first shop in Hornsey after the war (specialising in Militaria) before moving on to Camden Passage at a time when our little corner of North London was home to some 350 dealers attracting customers from all over the world.

Webb retired over a decade ago and sadly passed away in 2019 at the age of 94. His store is now a bustling coffee shop. We don’t know exactly where and when Webb acquired the Chin dog or where it’s been for the last few years, but Kevin recently jumped at the opportunity to bring the pup home to Camden Passage and we think he looks happy to be back in N1.
