Simply put, POA stands for “Price on Application”.
With some of our pieces, we prefer not to openly publish our asking price. We absolutely welcome visitors to the website to contact us to enquire about the cost of such pieces.
We just prefer to have a conversation to allow us to explain the pricing as well as to talk in more detail about the piece in question.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a super expensive piece but it may just be that there is something unique or special that we would like to be able to tell you about in more detail.

A very large late 19th/early 20th century Chinese lacquer horse (Red Hare) with semi precious stones, malachite and soapstone bridle and tack and a detailed carved saddle.
Red Hare is portrayed here with an endearing comical expression, showing another side to the famous war horse. Large statues like this are often seen at shrines, there is a large sculpture of Red Hare at the Mo Tai temple in China.
Please note the lacquer is fragile and has restoration to the legs and head. It is for display only and is not able to support the weight of a child.

Red Hare was a legendary horse most famously owned by the Han Dynasty warlord Lu Bu, it was capable of extraordinary feats, travelling over 1000 miles a day and crossing rivers and mountains as though it were flat ground. It was said to be around three meters tall and of an ashen red colour. After the death of Lu Bu at the battle of Xiapi Red Hare eventually came into the possession of Guan Yu, they had a connection like no other and when Guan Yu died Red Hare starved itself for days until it’s death.
