Simply put, POA stands for “Price on Application”.
With some of our pieces, we prefer not to openly publish our asking price. We absolutely welcome visitors to the website to contact us to enquire about the cost of such pieces.
We just prefer to have a conversation to allow us to explain the pricing as well as to talk in more detail about the piece in question.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a super expensive piece but it may just be that there is something unique or special that we would like to be able to tell you about in more detail.

An unusual and fascinating large (49cm in height) Japanese export Satsuma vase signed Kinkozan. The vase is an imposing yet delicately crafted piece, with reticulated ground with gold, green, prink and orange flowers. The panels depict Wisteria in bloom, a musician serenading his muse and a mother playing with her son.
The vase has a removable (original) earthenware pottery insert painted with a vibrant Ho Ho bird.
Please feel free to contact us for additional information, further images or to ararnge a viewing.
Wisteria
Wisteria symbolizes love, the long life of the plant also represents immortality and longevity, so it is a popular motif in Kimono designs and Japanese Art. Much like the cherry blossom it is popular to have viewing parties when the vines are in flower.
Phoenix (ho-ho)
The phoenix is a powerful symbol in Japan, used to represent the Empress. When used to decorate an object or house it symbolises the loyalty and honesty of the people that live there, traditionally a phoenix only stays when a ruler is without corruption.
Kinkozan
The Kinkozan dynasty were by far the biggest producers of export satsuma ware, they were active from 1645-1927 and exported heavily to America. Their factories produced a wide range of products and worked extensively with some of the best artists of the day.
