Simply put, POA stands for “Price on Application”.
With some of our pieces, we prefer not to openly publish our asking price. We absolutely welcome visitors to the website to contact us to enquire about the cost of such pieces.
We just prefer to have a conversation to allow us to explain the pricing as well as to talk in more detail about the piece in question.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a super expensive piece but it may just be that there is something unique or special that we would like to be able to tell you about in more detail.

From our collection of antique Japanese ceramics, this delightful and beautifully painted Meiji-era (1868-1912) Satsuma earthenware pottery Koro signed Yozan.
The pierced cover of the Koro with depictions of Benten (One of the Seven Lucky Gods) sitting on a larger Lion Dog. Next to her is the Courtesan “Tae of Eguchi” (a legendary figure from Japanese mythology) sitting on an Elephant.
The shoulder of the cover is decorated with finely painted Lion Dogs playing among waves.
On the body of the Koro, three large rectangular panels depict Noble men, women and children studying scrolls, playing and listening to music and playing games. Between each panel a cartouche, each with a beautifully painted Dragon.
On the lower section of the main body of the Koro a mille-fleur belt with cascades of Wisteria leading to fine Geometric patterns and Kimono silk designs.
Offered in fine condition as shown in the photographs and signed Yozan to the underside.
