This charming Bronze bucket vase is part of our collection of Japanese Meiji-era metal work. The simplistic design complemented by multi-metal detail depicting a stylised Kingfisher feeding at the banks of a river.

The cultivation of Iris is considered an art form in Japan with over 2000 verities having their origins in the country. Large patterned blossoms with wide flowers are the most sort after. The yare thought to represent loyalty and good news.
