This stylish pair of Bronze brush pots date from the Japanese Meiji era, (1868-1912) and are offered from our collection of fine multi-metal ware by the renowned Nogawa workshops.
The main body of each Vase, a rich bronze background decorated with onlaid metals in the form of bamboo and snails.
Both vases signed to the base with the Nogawa mark.

Nogawa
The Nogawa factory and workshops were active in the Meiji Period (1868-1912) through to the early 20th century. They created many works to appeal to Western tastes and used many different metal-ware techniques.
Bamboo
Bamboo is a symbol of purity and innocence, due to it’s extensive root structure it is also revered for it’s strength and for years if there was and earthquake people were told to run into a bamboo grove as it’s roots would hold the earth together.
