Simply put, POA stands for “Price on Application”.
With some of our pieces, we prefer not to openly publish our asking price. We absolutely welcome visitors to the website to contact us to enquire about the cost of such pieces.
We just prefer to have a conversation to allow us to explain the pricing as well as to talk in more detail about the piece in question.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a super expensive piece but it may just be that there is something unique or special that we would like to be able to tell you about in more detail.

An amusing Bronze Okimono depicting the popular legendary character of Daruma. The dark Bronze is picked out by gold hooped ear-rings and Silver eyes. He has a wistful look and is gazing upwards.
The figure bears the mark of Kitamura Joun. The artist exhibited his work at the 15th Nihon Dento Kogei-ten exhibition [Japan Traditional Arts Crafts Exhibition] in 1968 (Showa 43).
The Okimono is offered in good condition. Please feel free to contact us for further information or to arrange a viewing.
Daruma
Daruma or Bodhidharma was an Indian monk who lived during the 5th or 6th century, he is credited with bringing Buddhism to China. His teachings centred around meditation as do many of the legends. One details how he fell asleep seven years into his nine years of wall gazing, he became so angry with himself that he cut off his eyelids so he might never sleep again. Where his eyelids hit the floor the first tea plants grew providing stimulants to help keep his students awake.
