With some of our pieces, we prefer not to openly publish our asking price. We absolutely welcome visitors to the website to contact us to enquire about the cost of such pieces.
We just prefer to have a conversation to allow us to explain the pricing as well as to talk in more detail about the piece in question.
It doesn’t necessarily mean that it is a super expensive piece but it may just be that there is something unique or special that we would like to be able to tell you about in more detail.

Wheat in Japan
Before the second Sino-Japanese war (1937-1945) wheat was not common in the Japanese diet, rice was the staple carbohydrate. In the 1900’s western influenced pastries, cakes and sweet buns called anpan were popular and fashionable with the middle classes, wheat was seen as an exclusive treat not an essential food source. After the second world war their were rice shortages and much of the aid from foreign countries was wheat based an so it became a more common food source.
Lily
Lilies have long been admired for their slender stems and large flowers, their Japanese name ‘yuri’ comes from the word meaning to sway as the lily does in the breeze. There is a Japanese saying used to describe a woman’s beauty “She sits and stands a peony and walks a lily”
Butterfly
The butterfly is a common symbol in Japanese art, it represents good luck, good health and prosperity.
