As we start to wind down for the holidays, there’s just enough time for us to post our annual Festive Newsletter.
In this edition we take a look at how the Winter Solstice is celebrated across Japan and we turn our noses up, (but in a good way), at a centuries-old, fragrance-themed, Japanese parlour game.
We showcase some of the wonderful works of art that we have introduced to our website over the last few weeks and as we look forward to a bright 2026 at Pierrepont Row, we say a fond farewell to our warehouse at 50 Camden Passage.
Our full Winter Newsletter will follow in January but for now, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all our clients and partners, friends and followers a very Happy Holidays and all the very best for a healthy and prosperous 2026.

“The way of Incense”
Last month, we showcased a beautiful set of five Japanese Cloisonné vases, which we discovered were actually the receptacles for a popular Japanese game called “Kō-awase.”

Brighter days ahead
Earlier this week, millions of Japanese marked “Toji”, the arrival of the Winter Solstice. Click on the image below to discover more about this significant and magical time of year and how it is celebrated across Japan.

Each month we add fascinating new Chinese and Japanese antiques and works of art to our website and since our Autumn Newsletter, we have introduced some sumptuous Satsuma, captivating Cloisonné, majestic metalware and wonderful wood-carvings.

Not much room in the Inn
Earlier this month, we locked the doors on our warehouse at 50 Camden Passage for the last time having made the decision earlier in the year to keep all our collection of Chinese and Japanese Fine Art and Antiques under one roof at Pierrepont Row.
It has been a year of painstakingly packing and then, moving hundreds of items along the cobbled stones of Camden Passage but we are pleased to report that it was completed at the beginning of December without incident.
We will be sharing photographs and videos of the new look Pierrepont Row early in the new year and if you would like to arrange a visit, please feel free to Contact Us.
A Time for Giving
Instead of sending out paper Christmas cards to our customers and friends, this year we have once again chosen to make a couple of charitable donations to very worthy causes.
You can find out more about the RSPCA and Médecins Sans Frontières and the incredible work that both organisations are doing by Clicking Here.
We hope you enjoyed reading our festive newsletter. If you found it of interest, you will find more than 100 short stories, articles and blogs all inspired by our collection of Chinese and Japanese Fine Art and Antiques by Clicking Here.
You can also find us on Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube where we regularly post wonderful photography and video content.
Once again, thank you for all your support this year. See you in 2026!
