Welcome to our Autumn Newsletter

Summer seems like a distant memory, Winter, (as they say), is coming, so it must be time for our Autumn Newsletter.

As always, our quarterly communications are full of fantastic photography, mesmerising mythology and compelling characters all inspired by our collection of Chinese and Japanese Fine Art and Antiques.

We also look at some of the wonderful works of art introduced to our website over the last few months and we offer a sneak peak at some of the pieces that we will be adding to our online gallery in the coming weeks.

You can click on any of the images for a closer look at any of the pieces featured in this Newsletter.

We hope you enjoy the read.

A Season of vibrancy, reflection and change

As we approached the changing of the seasons, we took a look at Autumnal symbolism in Japan and how it is reflected in our collection of Meiji-era (1868-1912) fine art and antiques. Click Here or on the image below to read the accompanying blog.

Shūbun no Hi: Celebrating the arrival of Autumn

We also recently took a closer look at how the Japanese celebrate the arrival of Autumn. Shūbun no Hi is a National Holiday during the Autumn Equinox and is marked by exchanging gifts, paying respects to the dead and taking the time to enjoy the natural beauty found in abundance this time of year.

Make us an Offer: New website functionality

Those with a “good eye” may have noticed a new feature on our website over the last few weeks. We are always looking for ways to innovate and to make the process of buying antiques fun and engaging, so our new “Make us an Offer” has been designed with that in mind.

Where you see “Make us an Offer” next to our website listings, you are invited to do just that. We will then review the offer and come back to you in real time to either accept your offer or to make a counter offer.” The initiative has already proven very popular with one customer saying “It’s great to see somebody putting the “deal” back into “Antique Dealing”. What we value: Our appraisal service

Already this year, we have helped raise hundreds of Pounds for The British Red Cross through our “What we value” initiative. We regularly receive request to provide valuations and background information on Chinese and Japanese works of art and instead of charging for this service, we simply ask that a small donation is made to our chosen charity.

The British Red Cross, as part of the Global Disasters Emergency Committee, carry out incredible and vital work, providing food and water, first aid, shelter, warm clothing, hygiene parcels and much more. You can find out more about this initiative and how to request a valuation by Clicking Here.
