Gone but not forgotten. 2024 in Pictures

As we approach the end of yet another calendar year, we allow ourselves one last look at some of the wonderful works of art that we said a fond farewell to over the last 12 months.

As with all our blogs and articles, you can click on the image for a closer look.

One of the most enquired-after pieces on our website, this beautiful Mother-of-Pearl Okimono of a Dove, spread her wings earlier in the year to head for warmer climes.

A hugely popular character in Japanese legend is Emperor Jimmu, and this large-scale Okimono of the First Emperor was sold to a collector in the Middle-East.

We were reluctant to let this macabre Sukeyuki boxwood Skull and Snake Okimono leave the collection but pleased that it has gone to a wonderful new home.

This spectacular pair of Cloisonne vases found a new home after being in our collection for decades.

This wonderful Bronze and multi-metal depiction of the Takarabune set sail back in the Summer.

This lovely Meiji-era carving of a sleeping Shojo is now part of a fantastic private collection of Netsuke in the Middle-East.

Another of our most-viewed and enquired-after website pieces over the last couple of years, this stunning large-scale Okimono pair depicting legendary Samurai Warriors Kusunoki Masashige and Kusunoki Masatsura now has a new home on the other side of the World.

This wonderful Bronze and multi-metal Koro signed Oshima Joun and depicting fish swimming under lilies was acquired by a private collector in the Far-East.

This much-admired pair of Cloisonne vases by Hayashi Kodenji were acquired by a young collector and now form part of a growing collection of stunning Japanese works of art in India.

Fear not though, despite these wonderful works of art leaving this year, we are always adding fascinating new pieces to the collection.
